SouthEnd Farm Winery was founded one night at university while we sat around and drank a bottle of “meh” wine. For some reason we decided that we could do better than that and a winery was what we wanted to do once we retired.
As fate would have it, we jumped into our retirement dream about 30 years sooner than we had planned. So with no prior schooling or experience (and a lot of naive faith), we bought the family farm on Quadra Island and our opening in 2009 was the culmination of 7 years of work by our families, friends and ourselves. We are grateful for all the work that everyone has put into making our vision a reality.
Also known as Bengineer, still works at a day job being an engineer but really just wants to stay home and play in the vineyard. Proud to have returned to the family homestead to hammer out his vision of utopia.
Also known as the Jill-of-all-trades. Dabbled in Forestry and Landscape Architecture now dabbles in winemaking and viticulture. Keeps it all running while running after the daughters.
Miwa and Ru
The daughters, enough said.
and the Extended Family
Also known as Mom (Val and Mitzi), Dad (Ken and Tak) and Sista (Nancy) as well as uncle, brother, sister-in-law and cousins. Helps us keep things going, mind the children, work in the vineyard, help with everything we certainly couldn’t do anything without them!
Last but certainly not least our main Tasting Room host, she manages the Tasting Room most of the week for the summer season and makes sure everyone feels welcome when visiting. A childhood friend of Jill’s, she is knowledgeable about pretty much everything but a special passion of hers is Indigenous Art. She is also the owner of Copper Moon Gallery an online gallery of art and has select offerings at the Tasting Room.
